Among 12 dietary risk factors, lifestyle and metabolism examined in the study, the deficiency of omega-3 fatty acid is classified as the sixth highest killer of Americans. They found a “statistically significant improvement” for the Omega group in the following categories: agitation, aggression, completion of work and academic performance.

A 18-month study was published in 2014 which assessed how the borage seed oil rich in GLA and the rich fish oil have faced off against each other in the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis. It was found that all three groups (one group taking fish oil, one taking borage oil and one having a combination of the two) “showed significant reductions” in disease and no therapy has outperformed others. For all three “significant clinical responses” were the same after nine months.
This is big news for the fish and borage oil when it comes to patients with arthritis, but it is important to stress that the results were identical for it taking too many supplements is simply a waste of money.
Another study also showed that fish oil omega-3 supplements have worked just as NSAIDs in reducing arthritic pain and are a safer alternative to NSAIDs.
We have already seen that fish oil can help with symptoms similar to depression in rats, but what about people? A study published in the journal Nutritional Neuroscience evaluated the effects of fish oil supplementation on the prefrontal metabolite concentrations in adolescents with major depressive disorder. The researchers found that there was a decrease of 40 per cent of major depressive disorder symptoms as well as significant improvements in the content of amino acids and nutrition in the brain, particularly the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex correct.
